See What’s Possible With a Little Creativity
Every piece has a story—and sometimes, it just needs a little vision to shine again.
Here are a few of my favorite recent makeovers, where I turned forgotten or outdated furniture into beautiful, functional pieces that now take center stage in the home.

From “Not So Pretty” to Modern Statement
A Son’s Desk, Reimagined
This was a special project close to my heart. I transformed a desk I found for free into my son’s vision - a camping and baseball vibe desk. He loved the final result, and honestly… so did I!
Products I used:
- Retique’It Wood Primer – Light
- Retique’It Wood Stain – Driftwood
- Retique Tripletique Top Coat
- Sherwin Williams – Iron Ore
- Hobby Lobby – Brass Hardware

Toning Down the Orange
Giving Orange Furniture a Natural Glow
This piece had solid structure but an overpowering orange finish. I used @woodandhomeaccents Raw Wash to neutralize those tones and bring out the natural beauty underneath. It’s a subtle shift—but one that makes a huge difference in any space.
Hero Product:
- Wood & Home Accents – Raw Wash
Result:
A lighter, softer, more elevated finish—perfect for neutral or earthy interiors.

A Free Toy Chest Gets a New Life
The Magic of a Free Find
Sometimes the best pieces come from unexpected places. I found this toy chest on the curb—badly scratched and forgotten. With some sanding, a fresh stain, and a protective top coat, it now looks better than ever (and proudly sits in our entryway!).
Steps I took:
- Sanded the entire surface
- Applied a new stain
- Sealed with a durable top coat
